The exam remains a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of two papers conducted in a single 3-hour session without any break.
Total Marks: 300
Total Questions: 150 (All Compulsory)
Marking Scheme: +2 for every correct answer.
Negative Marking: None.
Paper Breakdown
Paper 1 (General Aptitude): 50 Questions (100 Marks). Tests teaching/research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, and general awareness.
Paper 2 (Subject Specific): 100 Questions (200 Marks). Based on the subject chosen by the candidate (83+ subjects available).

Educational Qualification: Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% mark (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Third Gender). Candidates in their final year of a Master’s program or those with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree are also eligible.

The application process for UGC NET June 2026 is fully online and can be completed through the official NTA portal. The window opened on April 29, 2026, and will remain active until May 20, 2026.
Phase 1: Online Registration
1. Visit the Official Site: Go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
2. New Registration: Click on the “UGC NET June 2026 Registration” link.

Phase 3: Document Upload
You will need to upload digital copies of the following:
1. Live Photograph: A new feature where a photo is captured via your webcam/mobile during the process.
2. Scanned Photograph: JPG/JPEG format (10 KB – 200 KB).
3. Scanned Signature: Blue/Black ink on white paper, JPG/JPEG (4 KB – 30 KB).
4. Category/PwD Certificate: If applicable, in PDF format (50 KB – 300 KB).

Phase 4: Fee Payment
Pay the fee based on your category using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI (SBI/Canara/ICICI/HDFC gateways).
1. Confirmation Page: Once the payment is successful, a “Confirmation Page” will be generated.
2. Download & Print: Keep at least two printouts of this page for future reference.
